Being Catholic is all about forming and nurturing a relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. Jesus Christ, our rescuer from sin and death, is the Second Person of the Trinity with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. God creates each and every one of us personally and uniquely as His daughter or son. He wants you to live the life you are given in the divine life of love found shared within the Trinity of Father-Son-Holy Spirit.
Unfortunately, through sin, we turn from God and the light of His love in our life becomes distorted, putting ourselves on a track destined to be eternally separated from Him. But Jesus, showing the love of the Father, comes to save us through His death and resurrection, sneaking behind enemy lines as an incarnate human to do what only God can do; offer Himself in our place to destroy death and open the gates of heaven once more. Through the Holy Spirit, found especially in the sacraments of the Catholic Church, we are brought into close contact with God and are afforded the divine life yet again. Our Catholic faith comprises what we believe and how we live that belief. For 2,000 years, this Catholic faith has been handed down from one generation to next, starting with Jesus Christ passing the faith to the Twelve Apostles. In our own lives, we may receive that faith from our parents, from friends, or even a stranger we meet.
Living as a Catholic includes many wonderful beliefs, practices, and devotions; too many to catalog here. But we hope to provide you with a brief overview of what we believe and how we live that belief.
We hope this resource will be valuable to both interested non-Catholics as well as to those already Catholic who might be looking to deepen the practice of their faith.
